What Is Word Tracker?
Word Tracker connects Smart Lookup with Daily Words and the rest of the LanGeek learning environment.
It is designed to solve a common problem in language learning: learners frequently encounter unfamiliar vocabulary while reading, studying grammar, reviewing examples, or exploring other content, but may forget which words they intended to learn.
With Word Tracker, a selected word becomes part of your active learning vocabulary. LanGeek remembers it and visually marks it wherever it appears across the platform.
This means that when you encounter the same word again, you can immediately see that it is already being learned.
How to Track a Word or Phrase
You can currently add words and phrases manually through Smart Lookup.
- Click or tap a word or supported phrase anywhere Smart Lookup is available.
- Review its definition, translation, pronunciation, and other available information.
- Select the Add to Learn button.
The word or phrase will then be added to your learning and included in Daily Words.
Additional methods for automatically identifying and adding useful vocabulary may be introduced in the future.
See Learning Words Across LanGeek
After a word has been added, LanGeek marks it throughout the platform.
You may encounter the tracked word in:
- Reading passages
- Example sentences
- Vocabulary lessons
- Dictionary entries
- Expressions and multi-word items
The marker shows that the word is already part of your current learning process.
You do not need to remember whether you previously saved it or repeatedly add it to separate lists. Word Tracker keeps its learning status consistent across LanGeek.
Why Repeated Encounters Matter
Adding a word to a list is only the beginning of learning it. Learners normally need to encounter vocabulary several times before they can recognize and use it confidently.
Word Tracker makes these repeated encounters more noticeable. When a tracked word appears in another lesson or passage, its marker reminds you that it is currently being learned.
This helps connect deliberate vocabulary review with natural exposure throughout the platform.
Instead of seeing the word only during a dedicated exercise, you may also recognize it while reading, studying grammar, or examining examples. Each encounter provides another opportunity to remember its meaning and observe how it is used.
Practice Tracked Words with Daily Words
Words added through Word Tracker are sent to Daily Words, where they can be reviewed through LanGeek’s Leitner-based learning system.
Daily Words schedules vocabulary according to your progress. Words that are still difficult return more frequently, while words you remember successfully move through the learning boxes.
This creates a connection between vocabulary you discover naturally and vocabulary you review systematically.
The process works as follows:
- You encounter an unfamiliar word or phrase.
- You add it through Smart Lookup.
- LanGeek marks it across the platform.
- The item is added to Daily Words.
- You review it until it reaches the final box.
- LanGeek recognizes it as learned.
How Does a Word Stop Being Tracked?
There are two ways for a word or phrase to leave your active learning vocabulary.
Remove It Manually
Click or tap a word that is currently being learned. The Smart Lookup button will display Remove from Learning.
Selecting this button removes the item from your tracked vocabulary and Daily Words.
Complete Its Daily Words Reviews
You can also continue reviewing the word through Daily Words.
When the item successfully reaches the final Leitner box, LanGeek recognizes it as learned. It is no longer treated as a word you are currently learning.
Words and Multi-Word Phrases
Word Tracker is not limited to individual words. Smart Lookup can also recognize supported multi-word vocabulary, including phrases and expressions.
This is important because many meanings cannot be understood correctly by examining each word separately.
For example, an idiom, phrasal verb, or fixed expression may have a meaning that differs significantly from the meanings of its individual words. When Smart Lookup identifies the complete expression, you can add the whole item to your learning.
Benefits of Word Tracker

- Track progress automatically: Words become learned after reaching the final Daily Words box.
Where Can I Use Word Tracker?
Word Tracker works wherever supported Smart Lookup and vocabulary marking are available on LanGeek.
