  3. What’s Coming to the LanGeek App in Q3–Q4 2025

At LanGeek, we’re constantly working to improve the way you learn languages, making the process more effective, more interactive, and more enjoyable. As we move into the second half of 2025, we’re excited to share a number of new features and improvements that will soon be available in the LanGeek mobile app.

These updates are designed to help learners practice more actively, stay motivated, and connect more deeply with the language they’re studying. Here’s a look at what’s on the way:

Pronunciation Exercise in the 5-Step Vocabulary System

Our proven 4-step vocabulary system is evolving into a 5-step learning journey. The newest addition is a pronunciation exercise that transforms vocabulary review into active speaking practice.

Learners will see a word, pronounce it, and record their voice. Afterward, they’ll be able to compare their pronunciation with the correct version and decide whether they got it right. Words marked incorrect will reappear later, encouraging consistent practice until mastery.

Currently, this feature supports single and compound words, with future plans to introduce AI-powered feedback for personalized pronunciation tips.

Meaning-First and Spelling Modes in Daily Words

The Daily Words system is one of our most popular tools, and it’s getting smarter. Two optional new modes will give learners more ways to strengthen their vocabulary:

  • Meaning-First Mode: See a definition and recall the word itself, reinforcing active recall.

  • Spelling Mode: Hear a word or see its meaning, then spell it correctly to sharpen writing skills.

These modes add extra depth to vocabulary practice while keeping learning flexible and customizable.

Placement Test

To help new users get started and continuing learners know exactly where they stand, we’re introducing a placement test aligned with the CEFR framework.

Tailored specifically for English learners, the test provides a quick, accurate way to measure proficiency and find the right starting point within LanGeek.

User Stats, Leaderboards, and Achievements

Staying motivated is easier when you can see your progress. That’s why we’re bringing User Stats, previously available only on the website, directly into the mobile app.

  • Track your study time daily, weekly, and monthly

  • Maintain streaks to build consistent learning habits

  • Compare progress on leaderboards across streaks and monthly activity

  • Unlock achievements and badges for milestones like learning new words or keeping up with pronunciation practice

These features create a fun, gamified experience that makes every session count.

Example Translations for All Languages

One of the most-requested features is finally here: example translations.

All 26 supported languages will now include translations for example sentences, helping learners immediately connect meaning with usage. This improvement makes it easier to understand vocabulary in real context, no matter which language you’re learning from.

User-Created Wordlists

We’re making vocabulary learning more collaborative with user-created wordlists.

Learners can now publish their own lists, share them with the community, and explore lists created by others. Whether it’s topic-based vocabulary or personalized collections, wordlists make it easier to discover and organize new words. Editing and updating lists will also be seamless, with advanced filters and search options planned for future updates.

UI Overhaul

The app itself is getting a fresh new look. Our redesigned interface brings:

  • Cleaner layouts

  • Faster loading times

  • More consistent navigation across pages

While these changes may feel subtle, they provide a smoother, more enjoyable user experience that keeps the focus on learning.

What’s Next

Even as these updates roll out, our team is already planning the next wave of improvements, including:

  • AI-powered pronunciation feedback with personalized guidance

  • Smarter adaptation in review modes based on learner performance

  • Expanded user stats with detailed insights and personalized charts

  • Advanced search and filter tools for community wordlists

  • New themes and smoother in-app transitions
